A Brush with Spirit
Born in Sydney Australia, Jhana Bowen grew up as the only western child at a large Tibetan boarding school in the Himalayas where a thousand Tibetan kids attended with the principal who was the Dalai Lama’s sister.
His childhood began in a culture rich in heart and ancient spirituality.
HIs mother briefly was an attendant to the Dalai Lama and at age 12 he watched her painting images of people who had attained ‘enlightenment’ (completely evolved). Fascinated he watched her painting whilst explaining to him that it was not her that painted but the Divine moving through her.
Ever since Jhana has found a natural inclination for painting.
Today Jhana’s works serve as a bridge between modern western culture bringing the ancient ways of eastern culture where we find truths pertinent to our time.
His works are a kind of visual poetry, offering rich solace and depth in our world. His works act to calm the mind and still the heart.
Jhana regularly exhibits and sells his work in Australia and overseas.
He is currently represented by Art Obsessions Gallery in California.
