"Where the Spirit does not work with the hand, there is no art." - Leonardo Da Vinci
The turtle in many cultures is known to have carried the earth on it's back. In Hawaii the name for the turtle is the same name given to the earth Honu. For me I have often found that when I have surfed in the ocean, the turtle would come to me as a kind of totem, offering wisdom and a deeper connection with my environment. In 2004 I co-founded an organisation called Turtle Conservation Project in which I raised awareness for environmental responsibility and sustainability and donated proceeds from funds raised to turtle conservation. This painting is a tribute to these beautiful creatures who survive insurmountable odds from the moment they hatch into adulthood. Since only 1 in 10,000 green turtles mature to adulthood.
Inspiration Oil on Canvas 60cmX80cm This artwork represents the spirit of the masculine in all of us. Whether we are man or woman. We have the capacity to be active and manifest with creative wisdom our dreams. This picture contains the Great Mystery that moves through us when we align with our principles in action. We may not understand the depth of what we do, but we don't have to. It's enough to do it with presence and awareness. As my yoga teacher once said "Any moment of presence is a sacred moment". Movement with consciousness describes the essence of this painting. Though the image remains still it moves through the psyche and resonates with a part of us that is infinite and cannot be contained.
